Proud to be home of the largest single-campus residence hall system in the nation, Michigan State University has a place for everyone.

Freshmen are required to live on campus, and the residence halls are also popular with returning students. Divided into six residence hall neighborhoods, MSU’s 23 undergraduate residence halls provide a home away from home to more than 15,000 students each year. The Department of Residence Life works to foster a safe and supportive community for MSU’s residents. Many students also participate in academic living-learning programs that create a community of peers right in their residence hall.

MSU’s nationally recognized Dining Services offers flexibility and options that allow students to customize when, where, and what they want to eat. Four meal plans are available to match every appetite, and MSU’s 14 dining rooms offer a variety of options including takeout and the ability to combine a meal plan with Spartan Cash.
